How We Work

Behind the scenes

How We Work

How the Bookie researches, tests, and publishes hotel price intelligence.

1

We identify the question

Every article starts with a question real travellers are asking — not a keyword target, not a content calendar slot. If the question is "is Booking.com's Genius discount real?" we test it. If it's "where is the best value hotel market in 2026?" we research it with live price data.

2

We run the test or research

Bookie Verdict articles are based on real booking tests — same hotel, same dates, multiple platforms, real transactions. Bookie Picks are based on current live price comparison across Booking.com, Agoda, Hotels.com, and direct booking. We do not rely on press releases or platform marketing materials.

3

We reach a verdict

Every HotelsBookie article reaches a clear conclusion. We do not publish "it depends" without explaining exactly what it depends on. The Bookie takes a position, backs it with data, and states it plainly. Negative verdicts are published with the same rigour as positive ones.

4

We verify and update

Hotel prices and platform policies change. Every published article carries a "last verified" date. We revisit Bookie Picks quarterly, Bookie Verdicts every six months, and Bookie Strategy articles annually. When facts change, we update the article — not publish a new one claiming the old was wrong.

On affiliate links

HotelsBookie earns affiliate commissions when you click certain links and make a booking. This funds the site and keeps it free. Affiliate relationships do not influence our verdicts — we publish negative findings on platforms we earn commission from. Read our full Editorial Policy.
